Folding@Home Team at 47th Place Rate PDF Print E-mail

I'm happy to announce that our Folding@Home team is folding at a rate that puts it at 47th in the world. We are currently ranked 128th with several teams in our site in the next 4 weeks that will put us in 113th place with sites on the top 100 in 2-3 months. We have been boosted greatly by the new GPU2 client that allows you to fold on multiple GPUs in one system and also harness the folding power of Radeon and GeForce stream processors. The new multicore CPU clients are also putting in impressive numbers. If you have not already please join up! We need more help, and our goal is to become a top 25 team. We are well on the way there, but at this rate it will take us over a year to get in the top 50. We need more CPU and GPU power in this quest to help fight cancer and other diseases. We had a top 5 UD cancer team, and I'm confidant we can do it again. If you have any questions please join us in the folding forum and everyone will be glad to help you out.

Officially it is after 4AM AMDZone time, and that marks our 10 year anniversary since July 31st 1998 when Jeff fired up the site on Tripod! It is hard to believe it has been that long. We will be up at Quakecon today, and when we get back we will start on getting contests and prizes to celebrate the milestone up and going. Thanks to everyone who has visited the site and continues to support it!

To our friends on the same side, yet not on the same page, I am going out of my way to offer an olive branch to you. Our Folding@home team recently passed your team in the rankings. I am in no way bragging by what I am about to do, as I am coming to you with a request for help. At the moment, we are doing fairly well, with no sign of stopping. I believe that it would be in the interest of both of our teams to collaborate - to merge, so to speak, as AMD did with ATI. We are a growing team and would appreciate it if you would join our team in order to catch up with Carlos and the guys at PlanetAMD64.

Additionally, we are currently having two contests - one for current folders and one for new folders. Visit our Distributed Computing Forum to sign up. One (1) random winner from each contest will receive a One Series ATI GPU. These contests end on 8/15/2008, so be sure to get signed up in time. We will be giving out an AMD shirt to whoever has the most points for the month of August, as well. Our team number is 36837. I hope to see you there!

Well the 10 year anniversary of AMDZone is coming up July 31st. I'm working up some good prizes, and we will be doing online and at Tek Republik giveaways, and maybe even something up at Quakecon again this year. Anyway, we would like to thank Asus for stepping up for some giveaways for our 10 year anniversary. We don't know exactly yet what they are giving us since they are moving locations at present, but on Monday we will have the full scoop. We will also have more details on how we are going to do this, and about our date for our inhouse event.

In the spirit of cooperation we are also going to pimp their ROGCon lan party coming August 8th-10th. Other than Quakecon and CPL our TXGF sponsored by ATI in 2004 was the only lan party over 500 people attended in Dallas. So in the spirit of helping Asus join the 500 club get your butts up there and game. Full details are below. Yes, I know it is Intel sponsored, but don't blame Asus for that, and you can tell them AMDZone sent you.

Welcome to the Republic Of Gamers Convention, brought to you by ASUS and Intel. ROGCon will be heating up Dallas, Texas by bringing old school LAN party fun to a whole new level. ROGCon will be open to the public and will feature a 24-hour BYOC where 700 gamers can show-off their skills. Exciting exhibition areas will feature the latest technology for gamers and some of the biggest names in the industry will host workshops to discuss the latest trends in gaming enthusiast hardware and software. We'll be giving away tons of stuff through raffles and competitions. You and your friends can compete for prizes in competitions featuring games ranging from the old classics to hot new releases. Registration is now open so sign up to beat the summer heat with ASUS and Intel at the Republic of Gamers Convention.
