Everun Note First Powerful "Netbook" PDF Print E-mail

So far in the Netbook craze the laptops have been small but very underpowered. The CPUs are generally low end Intel parts clocked down, or Atoms, and the video has always been horrid integrated Intel graphics. By horrid I mean several generations old Intel graphics. Yes, that means forget about 3D gaming. Well this has changed. CrunchGear shows that the Everun Note will be AMD Turion based with the 690G chipset. Crunchgear apparently doesn't get the importance of the 690G part, but there are a lot of sites that post up press releases and pictures and that is about it. At $879 MSRP those stats might not make everyone happy, but you could pay WoW, CS, and probably also Battlefield 2 on this laptop. That would be a first for a 7" screen job.

As previously reported, the Everun Note will weigh just over a pound and a half, feature a 7-inch touchscreen with a 1,024×600 resolution, 1.3-megapixel webcam, XP Home, and storage choices that range between a 12GB SSD and an 80GB hard drive. The CPU will be an AMD Turion 64×2 Dual-Core running at 1.2GHz with 1MB of L2 cache and the graphics system is an ATI RS690E with 64MB of memory.

PMP Today has news of the first netbook to feature AMD's Turion X2 processor running at 1.2GHz. Follow the link for pics of the device:

Taking a different route, Raon Digital is releasing the first ever AMD-powered netbook dubbed as the Everun Note. Providing consumers with another option to the more popular Intel Atom processor, the Everun Note will have a 1.2GHZ Dual Core AMD Turion 64 running at the helm accompanied by 1GB of RAM. It’ll also showcase a brilliant 7-inch display with a maximum resolution of 1024×600, an ATI graphics card, Wi-FI, Bluetooth, SD/MMC card reader, and an integrated 1.3-megapixel camera. Storage options will come in either 80GB HHD or 12GB SSD. Windows XP will be its bundled OS, and the approximate battery life is a measly 2.5 hours only.

According to Linux Devices AMD has a Turion 64 X2 at 1.2GHz in the Everun Note netbook. Yes, this would be AMD's first "netbook" or whatever that is design win.

AMD's dual-core Turion 64 X2 processor family includes TL-50, TL-52, TL-56, and TL-60 models that clock from 1.6GHz to 2.0GHz, respectively. The TL-52, for example, runs at 1.6GHz, has a pair of 512KB L2 caches, and has a thermal design power (TDP) of 31 Watts. According to AVING, however, the Everun Note clocks the Turion 64 X2 at just 1.2GHz, in an apparent attempt to ease cooling and extend battery life. The device includes 1GB of RAM and AMD/ATI's RS690E graphics chipset.
